Stone Family papers, 1790-1885.

Correspondence among members of the extended Stone family. Reverend Collins Stone was superintendent of the Deaf & Dumb Asylum in Hartford beginning in 1852. On 23 Dec 1870 he was fatally injured when he misjudged a rail crossing and his carriage was wrecked by a train. His son, Edward Collins Stone, succeeded him at the Asylum and would later be followed by Job Williams, husband of Rev. Stone's daughter (and Edward's sister), Catherine "Kate" Stone Williams. The family has a connection to the Hartford Watkinsons through Collins' wife, Ellen Jane Gill Stone, and their daughter, Louisa, wife of Edward Blair Watkinson. Two branches of the Stone family merged with the marriage of Collins' sister Urania to Rollin Sidney Stone in 1835.
